What I learned about this opportunity is that it has the potential to actually be an implementable service for a product that people prefer to have when they are at the gym. No one really likes working out without music and would be willing to throw a couple of dollars to avoid the dullness of working out in silence.
What I learned about interviewing customers is that it can be a tad awkward at first. It is especially awkward interviewing strangers, and possibly interrupting their leisure time. However a found that it is a great way to get genuine feedback and a product or idea.
I think your idea is definitely a unmet need that a lot of people, especially students, could use often. I also agree it can be pretty awkward talking to strangers, and on top of that getting in front of a camera with them. I interviewed a few more people and have a few videos as well. Check it out:

This idea is definitely an issue for our generation. I think forgetting to bring your headphones anywhere is a tragedy. Great thinking on your part to implement vending machines that sell headphones. However, I'm almost fairly certain this idea is already implemented in vending machines all over the world -- we just got to bring that to the gyms on campus here at UF.
