Terrorism
a.
Terrorism is a major issue because it happens on
all different scales. There is international terrorism, such as ISIS, that knocks
out hundreds of people per attack and devastate many areas and families. There are also smaller forms of terrorism
such as domestic terrorism. This effects
usually smaller amounts of people but still is a serious issue that needs to be
handled better.
b.
A practical solution to terrorism would be to
stop funding countries who are responsible for terrorism.
22.
Medical Issues
a.
Medical problems such as non-communicable
diseases are the cause of approximately two-thirds of the global population
each year. Other medical problems such
as physical and mental handicaps, mental illness, and other chronic health
problems are a major issue that many people have to deal with through out their
whole life. The lack of treatment for
all of the above in third world countries is also a very big issue that causes
those with treatable illness to lose their lives.
b.
A practical solution to this would be more
funding for research and development of medicine. Also, the possibility of
exporting medical professionals to other countries to help those countries that
do not have much medical assistance.
33.
Increasing population
a.
The population is increasing at a rate much
higher than the rate at which society is developing, thus impacting the economy
negatively. On top of this, it also contributes to issues such as the high
unemployment rate and homeless rate.
b.
The increasing population could be regulated by
making further progress in birth control. Decreasing the amount of unplanned
births around the world would cause a huge drop in the population, thus decreasing
the rate of unemployment and having a greater supply of resources for the
population.
44.
The Economy
a.
The economy is a major issue all over the world,
and the United States is no exception. In the U.S., the economy is such an
issue that we are currently importing more than we are exporting, as we are not
producing at the level for the standard of living we wish to have. The euro zone is also an area of major
economic issues today.
b.
A practical solution to boost the global economy
would be to decrease the unemployment rate, which could be done reducing
population.
55.
Poverty
a.
Approximately 50% of the world population is
living off of less than $2.50 per day.
Poverty also leads to other major world issues such as hunger, and death
caused by preventable illnesses due to the inability to afford care.
b.
Poverty could be practically resolved by
increasing available jobs, and increasing the economy.
66.
Species extinction
a.
Species that we use as food and resources are
becoming extinct. This limits the amount
of resources on earth that we as humans need to survive.
b.
Species extinction could be cut down by using
less resources for things non essential to survival.
77.
Pollution
a.
Pollution damages the earth and humans. Air pollution, water pollution in the oceans,
and even simple things like littering are all forms of pollution that are
damaging to the world.
b.
Pollution could simply be resolved by humans not
being lazy and disposing of waste properly.
88.
The unemployment rate
a.
The unemployment is a major issue because of the
economy and over population. Because of
these two things the unemployment rate is high, leaving many people in poverty.
b.
Reducing the population, or inventing more jobs
for the people on earth could fix the unemployment rate.
a.
Crime damages the economy and also effects
people’s lives personally. Being a
victim of a crime can be permanently life altering. On top of this, many
justice systems all over the world are flawed and over punish people for less
severe crimes, while those committing high profile crimes skate away free.
b.
Increasing the economy and decreasing poverty
could cut crime back, as a majority of crimes committed revolve around money,
and those in poverty are more likely to commit crimes in order to afford to be
alive.
110. War
a.
War is by far the oldest problem the earth
faces. While it is important to have a
strong military and national defense, war still devastates individuals and can
impact any nation in a negative way.
b.
War could be practically resolved by reducing
terrorism, as well as decreasing debts to other countries.
Hey Zachary, I agree with a lot of what you have on your list. All of the things you have listed are really major issues with the world today. In fact, if you go on my list, you will see that I have a lot of the same things. I was a little surprised at first to see species extinction on the list, but your explanation makes me understand why it's such a serious problem. If you want to check out my list, you can find it at http://alexbeyrent.blogspot.com/2016/01/worlds-biggest-problems.html.
